Listen to Obituary

Ann McBeth, known lovingly as "Artsy Ann," left this world on November 22, 2012, in North Ogden, Utah, at the age of 74. Born on April 5, 1938, in Cheyenne, Colorado, Ann’s journey through life was marked by creativity, kindness, and an unyielding passion for art and education.

For 30 years, Ann dedicated herself to teaching as a Professor of Art and Design at Weber State University. She inspired countless students, many of whom went on to flourish in their own artistic endeavors. Ann not only imparted knowledge but also a sense of belonging and safety. Her bubbly personality and warm words of wisdom left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.

Beyond the classroom, Ann was a vibrant part of her community, volunteering for various events and helping her neighbors whenever she could. Her spirit of generosity and service reflected her belief in the power of connection and the importance of uplifting others.

The memories of her shared moments linger on in the hearts of her family. Weekend mornings were filled with the delightful aroma of homemade pancakes, as Ann would take the time to nurture both body and spirit, creating bonds that built memories to last a lifetime. Her capacity to make others feel cherished and valued was unparalleled.

Ann earned her Master’s degree in Art and Design from Weber State University and returned to teach at the very institution that shaped her formative years. Painting was her true love; she could lose herself in the colors and textures for hours. Among her favorite subjects were her family and childhood memories, which breathed life into her canvases and showcased her passion through every brushstroke.

Ann is survived by her beloved children, Janie Mullen, Steve McBeth, and Brody McBeth. She is also remembered by her dear siblings, Barry, Mel, Poppy, and Janet. Her close friends, Sara Vindy and Makaebrie Koer, bear witness to her vibrant spirit.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Dean McBeth; her parents, Adam and Jane Salton; and her siblings, Molly Johns, Mary Abrahams, and Adam Salton Jr.

As we celebrate the life of Ann McBeth, we remember a remarkable woman whose kindness knew no boundaries and whose legacy will continue to inspire. Her absence leaves a profound void, and she will be dearly missed every single day.

A Celebration of Life was held at Sonzini Mortuary in Ogden, Utah, on November 28, 2012, followed by a Graveside Service on November 29, 2012. Ann's life was a canvas of beautiful moments and cherished connections, and in our hearts, her art will forever remain.
