Ethan Jones, a beloved son, husband, father, and friend, passed away after an encounter with an Arizona Ranger, on January 9, 2024, in the town of Agua Fria, at the age of 25. Born on June 29, 2000, in Layton, Utah, Ethan lived a life marked by joy, exploration, and a deep commitment to his faith.
A proud graduate of Layton High School in 2018, Ethan embarked on his professional journey shortly thereafter. He briefly worked at Barbarosa Foods before embarking on a less-than-fulfilling career alongside his father at Sephora UDC in West Valley, Utah. After three miserable years there, he found his true calling at Tukios, a wholesome company in Ogden, Utah. It was at Tukios that Ethan thrived, showcasing his dedication and passion until his untimely passing.
Ethan's adventurous spirit was matched by his dedication to learning. He loved to delve into various subjects and enjoyed sports, particularly basketball, and video gaming. He was often found immersed in games such as "Call of Duty" and "Counter-Strike," earning recognition as a champion with his titles as "Blockbuster Video Game Champion of the Year" for two consecutive years in 2017 and 2018. Ethan's enthusiasm for life was also reflected in his ardent support for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Boston Celtics. He embraced each moment, often with a fun-loving attitude, and approached life with an easygoing spirit.
In addition to his recreational pursuits, Ethan achieved significant milestones, including earning his Eagle Scout award in 2017 and Red Cross certification in 2021. However, becoming a father to his son, J Audie Jones, in 2023 was truly his crowning achievement.
Above all, Ethan was a warrior for Christ. His passion and dedication to his savior are unwavering.
Ethan is survived by his cherished family: his wife, Sariah Jones; his son, J Audie Jones; his father, J Clark Jones; his mother, Jana Jones; and his brothers, J Nick Jones and Charlie Jones. He joins dearly departed family members, including his grandfathers, Charles Johnson, and J Stephen Jones, and his grandmothers, Ruth Johnson and Barbara Jones.
Memorial services will be held on May 11, 2025, starting at 8:00 AM at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, followed later that day by a Celebration of Life at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, beginning at 9:00 PM.
Ethan leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and unwavering faith, touching the lives of those who knew him and celebrated his spirit. His memory will forever be in our hearts.
