From St. Paul’s shores to Montana’s streams,
He lived a life of quiet grace,
Of quiet woods and glowing dreams,

Yet left his richest work behind
In every heart where laughter spreads.
A botany class, a sudden spark,
With Patricia right beside his side;
Through evening tunes that softened dark,
A romance deep and ocean-wide.
He ran the miles, he cast the line,
Beneath the big western skies,
Caught native fish where waters shine,
And saw the magic in young eyes.
For grandchildren on riverbanks,
And game-board nights of joyful noise,
For Christmas magic, giving thanks,
As Santa bringing endless joys.
Though now he sleeps, his tune plays on
