Marissa Gracie Riche, born on January 2, 2025, passed away just days later on January 6, 2025. In her brief time, Marissa made an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Marissa was a dedicated member of the United States Army, proudly serving for 20 years. She reached the esteemed rank of Colonel and was honored with the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for her bravery during the Gulf War. Her commitment to service was a testament to her character, exemplifying leadership, courage, and dedication.
Academically, Marissa excelled, earning a Master's degree in Business Administration from XYZ University, where she was recognized with the Outstanding Academic Achievement award in 2010. Her intelligence and determination served her well, both in her military career and beyond.
Marissa cherished her time spent with family, especially during the holidays, where her famous apple pie became a cherished tradition each Thanksgiving. These moments highlighted her love for her family and her passion for baking, bringing joy and warmth into their lives.
In her personal pursuits, Marissa was an avid collector of rare books. She dedicated countless hours to scouring bookstores and auctions, always eager to add to her treasured collection. This hobby reflected her love for knowledge and appreciation for literature.
Marissa is survived by her loving sister, Sarah Johnson, brother-in-law, Tom Johnson, and close friend, Rachel Lee. She was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Smith, father, John Smith Sr., and brother, James Smith.
