Marissa Gracie Riche, born on October 1, 2025, and who departed this life just one day later on October 2, 2025, leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew and loved her. In her brief time with us, Marissa’s vibrant spirit and remarkable accomplishments shone brightly, reminding us of the profound impact a life can have, no matter how short it may be.
Marissa was deeply committed to her education, earning a Master’s degree in Business Administration from XYZ University. Her dedication and hard work were recognized when she was honored with the Outstanding Academic Achievement award in 2010. This early accomplishment foreshadowed the many ways in which she would later contribute to the world around her.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Marissa held a distinguished career in service to her country. She served in the United States Army for 20 years, achieving the rank of Colonel. Her bravery and commitment during service earned her the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, serving as a testament to her courage and dedication during the Gulf War.
Marissa’s personal passions truly enriched her life. She found joy in the simplest of pleasures, especially spending time with family, particularly during the holidays. Thanksgiving was her cherished time to shine, as she delighted her loved ones with her famous apple pie, a dish that became a beloved tradition for those fortunate enough to share in her company. In her spare time, she enjoyed collecting rare books, often spending hours treasure-hunting through bookstores and auctions, always on the lookout for new additions to her valued collection.
Marissa is survived by her sister, Sarah Johnson, and her brother-in-law, Tom Johnson, along with her close friend, Rachel Lee. Even in her absence, her memories remain alive through the laughter and love she shared with her family and friends.
Preceding her in death are her mother, Susan Smith; her father, John Smith Sr.; and her brother, James Smith. They welcomed her into their eternal embrace, forever holding her spirit close.
Though Marissa's time on this earth was short, the legacy of her kindness, bravery, and love resonates through the lives she touched. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
