Marissa Gracie Riche, born on November 5, 2025, passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2025. Though her time with us was brief, Marissa made an indelible mark through her academic, military, and personal achievements.
Marissa attained a Master’s degree in Business Administration from XYZ University, where she demonstrated exceptional dedication to her studies. Her hard work and commitment were recognized in 2010 when she was honored with the Outstanding Academic Achievement award. Her intellectual curiosity extended beyond the classroom, as Marissa also possessed a passion for collecting rare books, often spending hours exploring bookstores and auctions to enrich her treasured collection.
In addition to her wide-ranging interests, Marissa exemplified bravery and service during her two decades in the United States Army, reaching the esteemed rank of Colonel. Her service was marked by valor, as she was awarded both the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for her bravery in combat during the Gulf War. Marissa was a true patriot, whose contributions to her country will be remembered with respect and admiration.
Family held a special place in Marissa’s heart, and she cherished the time spent with her loved ones, particularly during the holidays. Thanksgiving would often find her in the kitchen, delighting her family with her famous apple pie, a testament to her nurturing spirit and love for gathering those she cared about.
Marissa is survived by her sister, Sarah Johnson, her brother-in-law, Tom Johnson, and her close friend, Rachel Lee. She was predeceased by her cherished mother, Susan Smith, father, John Smith Sr., and brother, James Smith.
As we remember Marissa Gracie Riche, we honor a life marked by academic excellence, devoted service, and a deep affection for family and friends. Though her journey has come to an early end, her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know her.
