Marissa Gracie Riche, a dedicated member of her family and a proud veteran, passed away on July 8, 2025, just five days after celebrating her 1st birthday. Marissa was born on July 3, 2025, and in her brief time on this earth, she made an indelible mark on those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Marissa’s academic journey culminated in a Master’s degree in Business Administration from XYZ University, where she was honored with the Outstanding Academic Achievement award in 2010. Her commitment to excellence in her studies reflected her determination and passion for knowledge.
Her service to her country was marked by an impressive 20-year career in the United States Army, where she achieved the rank of Colonel. Marissa displayed immense bravery during her service, earning both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for her valor in combat during the Gulf War. Her dedication and courage were a source of inspiration to her fellow servicemen and women.
Beyond her military service and educational accomplishments, Marissa cherished the time spent with her family, particularly during the holidays. Each Thanksgiving, she delighted her loved ones with her famous apple pie, a testament to her culinary skills and her deep love for family traditions.
In addition to her love for family gatherings, Marissa had a passion for collecting rare books. She spent countless hours visiting bookstores and attending auctions, always on the hunt for unique finds to add to her cherished collection.
Marissa is survived by her sister, Sarah Johnson, and brother-in-law, Tom Johnson, along with her close friend, Rachel Lee, who will fondly remember the memorable moments and deep connections they shared.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Susan Smith and John Smith Sr., and her brother James Smith. Their memories will always remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
While Marissa's time with us was tragically short, her legacy of bravery, intelligence, and devotion to family will be remembered and cherished by all who had the honor of knowing her.
