MaryJo was known by all as a generous spirit with a boundless heart for her family, friends, and community.
MaryJo Williams, beloved mother, grandmother, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on October 10, 1950, in Ogden, MaryJo was known by all as a generous spirit with a boundless heart for her family, friends, and community.
From her earliest days, MaryJo’s life was defined by love and dedication. She grew up in Ogden surrounded by the warmth of her family, holding a special bond with her father, Tom Williams, with whom she now finds her eternal rest. MaryJo’s devotion to family was unwavering—her children, Sarah Williams and David Williams, and treasured grandson, Matthew Williams, were the center of her world. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and memories that will forever bind her loved ones together.
MaryJo was best known in her family as the gracious hostess—her doors, and especially her kitchen, were always open for Sunday dinners, holiday feasts, and spontaneous gatherings. Those lucky enough to join her around the dining table will remember her laughter, her listening ear, and the gentle encouragement she offered to all.
Her gentle touch extended out into her garden, where she found peace among blooming flowers and green leaves. Gardening was not merely a pastime for MaryJo—it was a reflection of the care she extended to people and plants alike. The fruits and flowers of her labor were shared generously, just as she shared her time, talents, and heart with everyone she met.
Faith was the bedrock of MaryJo’s existence. At her church, she was a cornerstone: always volunteering, always ready to serve.
Among her many gifts, MaryJo’s hands were rarely still. Her skill with quilting was a source of comfort and beauty—covering loved ones with warmth, her quilts stitched together not only fabric but also lasting stories and memories. She cherished the quiet moments spent sewing, reflecting on her days, and meditating on the blessings in her life.
Faith was the bedrock of MaryJo’s existence. At her church, she was a cornerstone: always volunteering, always ready to serve, always remembered for her smile and willingness to take on any task. Her presence was a constant, and her absence will be deeply felt in every pew, committee, and gathering. MaryJo found profound comfort and joy in the hymns “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art”—melodies that now ring as tributes to her life and legacy. She also held a soft spot for Elvis Presley’s “Peace in the Valley,” a favorite that always made her smile.
MaryJo’s memory lives on through those who knew her best. She is survived by her loving children, Sarah and David Williams, her cherished grandson, Matthew Williams, and her dear friend, James Thompson. She is reunited in peace with her father, Tom Williams.
In accordance with her wishes, MaryJo will be buried beside her beloved father at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, where two plots speak to the deep connections that anchored her throughout her life.
A series of services will be held to honor MaryJo’s life. There will be a viewing, followed by a funeral service at First Community Church, where Pastor James Thompson will officiate. The ceremony will include a memorial video and be adorned with prayer cards and a guest register, capturing the memories and prayers of all who come to pay their respects. MaryJo will rest in an oak casket, a graceful tribute to her enduring strength and warmth. During the service, Sarah will deliver the eulogy, and her grandson will read scripture, accompanied by the music MaryJo held so dear: “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “Peace in the Valley.”
Following the service, a graveside gathering will take place at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, fulfilling MaryJo’s wish to be laid to rest beside her father. Special touches—such as her favorite gardening photo gracing both the prayer cards and the guest book—will ensure that MaryJo’s vibrant spirit is celebrated at every step.
Though her presence will be sorely missed, MaryJo Williams leaves a legacy of love, faith, and kindness. Her family and friends will carry her lessons and laughter forward, forever holding close the memory of a woman who filled her world—and theirs—with warmth, generosity, and the beauty of a well-tended garden.
